Our Strategy

DTMWS acquires horses of racing age through private purchases. Specifically, horses that are race ready and have not yet broken their maiden (won their first race).
Why this approach?

1. The horse is already fit and ready to run
2. The competition is easier from maiden races up through non winners of three race conditions.
3. We have confidence in our trainer to improve the horse and race the horse at levels that allows the best opportunity to win.
4. Our shareholders can enjoy racing in a few weeks rather than several months.

Our bloodstock consultant and trainer is Keith Desormeaux who has 25 years of experience in selecting and training thoroughbreds. Keith’s operation is based in Louisiana, however, he has trained at race tracks all over the country. He has a great record of selecting top quality animals and training them to get the most of out of their ability. Two of his selections that he trained have run in the Breeders Cup; French Assault in the 2001 Breeder’s Cup Juvenile and Gangbuster in the 2009 Breeder’s Cup Marathon.

Why are we different?

1. The DTMWS partnership model allows anyone to get in at their comfort level. Shares of horses are sold, so if you want in for $200 or $10,000 it makes no difference.
2. DTMWS has no monthly expenses. You buy in at your comfort level and we don’t send you any bills. That’s right, No Monthly bills!! The standard way of horse ownership and partnerships involves monthly costs of $2500 and up. These costs include training, feed, vet charges, shoeing, and dietary supplements.

What is the process?

1. Our bloodstock consultant and trainer identifies a racing prospect to acquire.
2. Interested parties begin purchasing shares.
3. Once all the shares have been purchased the horse is examined by a vet, once cleared by the vet the horse is bought and moved to our barn.
4. Our trainer begins his work leading up to the first race.
5. Post Time!!!

Note: DTMWS adds in a small fee to the purchase price of the horse to cover costs and manage the partnership.
